AG Ambulance Rath Yatra Service Camp Concludes in Puri

The AG Ambulance Division, operating under the Office of the Accountant General, successfully concluded its special medical service camp in Puri after providing emergency assistance to devotees during the Rath Yatra festivities from July 15 to July 27.

Volunteers Provide Emergency Medical Assistance

AG Ambulance volunteers earned widespread appreciation for their dedicated service during the Rath Yatra, Bahuda Yatra and Suna Besha celebrations. They rescued seriously ill and injured devotees, provided first aid and facilitated emergency ambulance services amid the massive crowds.

Several devotees suffered from suffocation and other health emergencies due to the heavy rush. Volunteers responded promptly, administered first aid and shifted those requiring further treatment to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital.

Timely CPR Saves Critically Ill Woman

A notable incident occurred on the day of Suna Besha when a critically unconscious woman, rescued from the crowd by the State Fire Services Department, was provided oxygen and CPR by AG Ambulance volunteer Eng. Abhilash Bal.

His timely intervention, followed by arranging transportation to the hospital, helped save the woman’s life.

Medical Teams Deployed at Key Locations

At the request of the Puri District Health Officer, the AG Ambulance Division deployed volunteers, stretchers, ambulances and emergency medicines at several strategic locations, including Talabania Bus Stand, Samang, the seashore and the Bada Danda.

The arrangements were aimed at ensuring immediate medical assistance to devotees facing health emergencies during the festival.

Hundreds Receive First Aid

Throughout the nine-day Rath Yatra period, first aid services were provided to hundreds of sick and injured devotees and pilgrims. Devotees suffering from suffocation and other medical emergencies were rescued and safely transported by ambulance to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital whenever necessary.

Four Decades of Rath Yatra Service

The AG Ambulance Division has been providing emergency medical services during the Rath Yatra in Puri for the past 40 years. Its continued presence during the annual festival has helped provide timely medical assistance to devotees amid the enormous crowds.

Officials and Volunteers Support Camp

The service camp was supervised and supported by AG Ambulance Division Assistant Commissioner Purushottam Bal, along with Dr. Ashish Kumar Muduli, Dr. Satyajit Sahu, Dr. Abhipsa Bal, Manoj Tripathy, Team Leader Ashok Pattnaik, Eng. Abhilash Bal, Sanjay Yadav, Suresh Chandra Mahanti, Pradeep Kumar Kar, Shibanath Mahapatra and Prakash Chandra Gouda.

Officers and volunteers of the Khordha District St. John Ambulance Division, including Bhikari Charan Sahu, Santosh Panchuati and Nrusingha Mahapatra, also extended their support in managing the camp.

The volunteers were widely appreciated for their commitment and timely intervention, with their efforts playing an important role in ensuring the safety and well-being of devotees during the Rath Yatra festivities.
