BJP Begins Government Formation After Landslide Victory in West Bengal
New Political Chapter Begins from May 9
Following a massive electoral victory in West Bengal, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially begun the process of forming a new government in the state. According to party sources, a new political era is set to begin from May 9, marking a major shift in West Bengal’s political landscape.
The swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister is expected to be held on Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti (May 9), symbolising a blend of cultural heritage and political transformation.
Swearing-in Ceremony to Be Held on Tagore Jayanti
BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar stated that the oath-taking ceremony will take place on May 9. The decision to hold the event on Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary is being seen as a symbolic gesture, linking Bengal’s cultural legacy with the state’s new political direction.
Party leaders believe the occasion will mark both cultural pride and administrative change in the state.
PM Modi’s Earlier Signal Confirmed
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier hinted at the timeline during his final election rallies. Addressing a rally in Barrackpore, he had said he would return to Bengal after the results to attend the BJP’s swearing-in ceremony.
Following the historic mandate, PM Modi also addressed party workers at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, invoking Rabindranath Tagore’s ideals and stating that the vision of the party aligns with a “fearless and dignified Bengal.”
BJP’s Historic Mandate in West Bengal
The BJP has secured a record 206 seats, marking its first-ever majority government in West Bengal. The victory has ended the long-standing rule of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and is being seen as one of the most significant political shifts in the state’s history.
Who Will Be West Bengal’s First BJP Chief Minister?
With the party preparing to form its government, discussions have intensified over the selection of the next Chief Minister. Senior BJP leaders are expected to hold key meetings in Delhi to finalise the decision.
Prominent leaders such as Suvendu Adhikari, Sukanta Majumdar, Bhupender Yadav, Sunil Bansal, Biplab Deb, and Amit Malviya are expected to participate in the discussions.
The final decision will be taken in consultation with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president J.P. Nadda.
High-Level Meetings in Delhi to Finalise Strategy
BJP leaders will meet in Delhi to decide on cabinet formation and governance strategy for West Bengal. The meeting will focus on administrative planning, leadership selection, and the roadmap for the new government.
Party insiders say the decision on the Chief Minister will be crucial in shaping the party’s governance approach in the state.
With preparations underway for the May 9 swearing-in ceremony, West Bengal is poised for a historic political transition. The BJP’s landslide victory and the upcoming government formation mark a significant turning point in the state’s political journey, setting the stage for a new era of governance.
