Students from Bihar and across India unite to celebrate the festival with traditional rituals and spiritual zeal on the KIIT campus
The festival of Chhath Puja was celebrated with great devotion and traditional fervour on the KIIT Deemed to be University (KIIT-DU) campus on Monday. The vibrant celebration reflected the rich cultural heritage of India and the spirit of unity among students from different states.
Students Celebrate Chhath with Cultural Pride
A large number of students, particularly from Bihar, participated enthusiastically in the rituals, dressed in their traditional attire. The campus came alive with devotional songs and the rhythmic chants of “Chhathi Maiya,” creating an atmosphere of faith and festivity. Students offered arghya to the setting sun, marking their deep reverence and connection to the ancient tradition that honours the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya for sustaining life on earth.

Founder Dr. Achyuta Samanta Extends Greetings
The celebration was joined by Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT and KISS, who extended his warm greetings to all participants. Sharing his thoughts on the occasion, Dr. Samanta said,
“I feel happy that students are participating whole heartedly in the celebration. Chhath is observed across India with immense enthusiasm. Mata Sita observed Chhath upon her return from exile, reflecting its deep cultural and spiritual significance.”
He lauded the students for keeping traditions alive even while pursuing higher education far from home, emphasizing the role of festivals in promoting cultural harmony and spiritual discipline.
University Leadership Joins the Festivities
The event was also graced by Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Raju K. D., Registrar Prof. G. R. Mohanty, and several other officials, faculty members, and staff of KIIT-DU. Their presence added to the festive spirit, as they joined students in prayers and rituals performed on the university premises.
