Odisha Launches 'Our Governance' Initiative to Boost Public Service Accountability

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday unveiled a new governance initiative titled “Ama Sasana” (Our Governance). The project is designed to ensure timely delivery of government services while providing citizens with a direct platform to share their feedback and register grievances.

Accountability and Strict Action Against Misconduct

The government has assured that people’s voices will play a key role in evaluating the efficiency of services. Officials found guilty of negligence, misconduct, or demanding bribes will face strict action. This approach is aimed at curbing corruption and improving the quality of public service delivery across the state.

Inspired by “Mo Sarkar” but Simplified

While the initiative draws inspiration from the previous BJD government’s “5T, Mo Sarkar” model, it is structured more simply. Unlike its predecessor, “Ama Sasana” removes multiple layers such as chairpersons and secretaries. Instead, grievances and suggestions will go directly to the Chief Minister’s Office and senior administrators for quick redressal.

Services Across Departments

At present, the programme covers 16 services across 8 departments, but plans are already in motion to expand it to over 150 services in 20 departments. A dedicated call centre has been set up to make the feedback mechanism easier. Citizens will receive recorded calls regarding the implementation of government schemes and can also share their views directly through phone calls.

Building Stronger People-Government Relations

“Ama Sasana” is envisioned as a people-centric governance initiative. By making services both accessible and accountable, the government aims to build a lasting relationship of trust with the people of Odisha. The step represents a clear shift towards transparent governance, putting citizen welfare at the centre of administration.
