Rescue Operations Intensify at Accident Site
Rescue and search operations are underway following a tragic cruise boat accident near the Bargi Dam in Jabalpur. Teams from the Indian Army are assisting the State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in the ongoing rescue efforts. Additional forces from Hyderabad and paramilitary units from Kolkata have also reached the site.

Casualties and Missing Persons
As of Friday afternoon, at least 28 people have been rescued, while nine bodies have been recovered. However, six people are still reported missing. The cruise was carrying members of a family originally from Tamil Nadu, along with relatives who had come for a visit.

Survivor Recounts Tragic Incident
An 11-year-old survivor from Delhi, identified as Zafar, said that the boat began to sink after water entered it during a sudden storm. His account highlights the severity of the weather conditions at the time of the accident.

Joint Rescue Effort in Full Swing
A coordinated rescue operation involving police, local administration, and SDRF teams is currently in progress. Professional divers, motorboats, and speedboats are being used to search for the missing passengers. The Jabalpur district administration has also released a list of survivors, many of whom are tourists from different states.

Prime Minister Expresses Grief
Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the accident. He extended condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. Financial assistance has been announced from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund, with ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.

State Government Announces Probe and Compensation
Mohan Yadav termed the incident as tragic and ordered an immediate investigation. He also directed officials to speed up rescue operations. The Chief Minister announced a compensation of ₹4 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives.

Tourist Spot Turns Tragic
Located around 35 kilometers from Jabalpur on the Narmada River, Bargi Dam is a popular tourist destination managed by the state tourism department. It offers resort facilities and various water sports activities, making it a favored spot for visitors. The incident has raised concerns over safety measures at such tourist locations.
