DRDO Successfully Tests Advanced Indigenous Missile at Chandipur in Odisha
The advanced indigenous missile was successfully test-fired from Launch Pad-3 at Chandipur's ITR, accurately hitting its designated target over the Bay of Bengal and meeting all test parameters.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully test-fired an advanced missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Odisha’s Balasore district.
The missile was launched from Launch Pad-3 at around 11:19 am on Tuesday. According to defence sources, the missile successfully met all its designated objectives during the test, marking another significant achievement for India’s defence research programme.
Following its launch, the missile travelled through the air and accurately struck a designated simulated target over the Bay of Bengal. DRDO scientists confirmed that all parameters of the test were successfully achieved.
During the trial, the missile’s flight trajectory and performance were closely monitored using advanced radar systems, electro-optical tracking systems and telemetry stations. The successful demonstration is expected to further strengthen India’s defence capabilities.
Developed Using Indigenous Technology
The missile has been developed using completely indigenous technology and is capable of operating effectively during both day and night.
Equipped with an advanced navigation system and a powerful warhead, the missile is designed to enhance India’s ability to counter potential enemy threats. Its successful test marks another milestone in the country’s efforts to strengthen its indigenous defence infrastructure and technological capabilities.
Tight Security Arrangements Around Chandipur Test Range
Extensive security arrangements were put in place around the Chandipur missile testing facility ahead of the launch.
As a precautionary measure, residents living within the designated safety zone around the launchpad were temporarily evacuated to secure shelters. Fishing activities and the movement of fishermen into the sea were also temporarily restricted during the testing period.
Following the successful launch, all evacuated villagers were allowed to return to their homes.
The Ministry of Defence and senior officials congratulated the DRDO scientists, engineers and technical teams involved in the successful test, acknowledging their contribution to strengthening India’s defence preparedness.
