Puri is preparing for the annual Habisha Brata, a month-long religious observance that begins on October 7. Devotees, popularly known as Habishyalis, will stay in the holy city for an entire month to observe strict rituals and devotion to Lord Jagannath.
District Administration Holds Preparatory Meeting
To ensure smooth arrangements, a preparatory meeting was held at the Puri Circuit House under the chairmanship of the District Collector. Officials discussed logistics, security, health facilities, and essential amenities for the devotees.
The Collector emphasized that serving the Habishyali mothers is a matter of faith and responsibility, and directed all departments to ensure their comfort and safety.
Online Registration for Devotees
As in previous years, this year too, online registration will be made mandatory for devotees participating in the Brata. Public awareness campaigns will be carried out through different media channels to spread the message.
Comprehensive Arrangements for Devotees
Arrangements are being made for:

Religious activities like discourses, bhajans, and pala performances

Medical facilities, sanitation, and drinking water supply

Volunteer support to assist devotees throughout the observance
Relevant departments and officials have been assigned responsibilities for these tasks.
Security and Crowd Management
Special attention will be given to crowd management during darshan of Lord Jagannath. The police department and volunteers will work in coordination to ensure discipline, security, and smooth darshan for devotees.

The meeting was attended by the Additional District Magistrate, Chief Development Officer of Zilla Parishad, Executive Officer, Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Development, and senior municipal officers.
