Government Approves Appointment of Senior Military Leader

The Government of India has officially approved the appointment of Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth as the next Chief of the Army Staff (COAS). He will succeed General Upendra Dwivedi, who is scheduled to retire at the end of this month.

Lt Gen Seth, currently serving as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff, will assume charge as the head of the Indian Army following General Dwivedi’s retirement.

Over Four Decades of Distinguished Military Service

With a military career spanning more than four decades, Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth brings extensive operational and leadership experience to the country’s top military position.

An alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA) and the Indian Military Academy (IMA), he has served in several key command and staff appointments across the Indian Army.

Throughout his career, he has played significant roles in internal security operations, counter-insurgency missions, and border management, earning a reputation as a seasoned military strategist.
