In a major breakthrough against Maoist activities, Koraput Police have successfully unearthed a Maoist dump and seized a large cache of arms, explosives, and other materials from the Badalipahad forest area under Baipariguda police station limits in Odisha’s Koraput district.

Operation Based on Intelligence Inputs

The operation was carried out by the District Voluntary Force (DVF) following specific intelligence gathered during the interrogation of surrendered Maoists. Acting on the information, security personnel launched a search operation in the Badalipahad forest region.

During the search, the team discovered a concealed Maoist dump containing a significant quantity of weapons, explosives, and logistical supplies allegedly used by Maoist cadres.

Large Quantity of Arms and Explosives Recovered

Among the items recovered were:

  • One INSAS rifle
  • Six country-made firearms
  • One Claymore mine weighing approximately 18 kilograms
  • One tiffin bomb Improvised Explosive Device (IED) weighing around 10 kilograms
  • Six tiffin bomb IEDs weighing approximately 4 kilograms each
  • One Maoist kit bag
  • Various other daily-use articles and materials

Suspected Link to AOBSZC Maoist Cadres

Police suspect that the seized weapons and explosives belonged to Maoist cadres operating under the Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC), a key Maoist formation active in the border regions of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.

Security Forces Intensify Anti-Maoist Efforts

The recovery is being viewed as a significant success for security forces in their ongoing anti-Maoist operations in the region. Officials believe the seizure has dealt a substantial blow to Maoist activities and could help prevent future attacks planned by the insurgent group.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the origin of the weapons and identify the Maoist operatives associated with the cache.
