Deliberate Attack? Shehzad Poonawala Demands Justice After Mother’s Horrific Car Accident

A distressing incident at a petrol station in Pune left an elderly woman with serious injuries after she was struck by a reversing vehicle that fled the scene, her family and authorities said. The victim, mother of BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla, was rushed to hospital and is expected to undergo surgery.

CCTV Footage Shows Suspect Vehicle Fleeing Scene

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening at a petrol pump near the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Pune, where the woman had stepped out of her family car while it was being refueled. CCTV footage shared by the family appears to show a parked car reverse suddenly and hit her before speeding off.

Family Alleges Deliberate Attack

Her sons, Shehzad and Tehseen Poonawalla, took to social media to share their anguish and call for swift justice. Tehseen posted the CCTV clip online, alleging the act seemed deliberate and condemning the driver’s conduct. Shehzad appealed directly to the Pune City Police Commissioner, urging the authorities to trace and arrest the culprit.

In his posts, Shehzad described his mother as one of the “kindest and nicest human beings,” and said the attack has left the family shaken.

Victim’s Condition and Medical Response

Police confirmed the woman sustained a fractured hip and other injuries in the collision and was admitted to a private hospital in Pune. Doctors are preparing for surgery, which could be scheduled soon depending on her vital signs.

Police Investigation Underway

Pune police officials said they are reviewing CCTV footage from the petrol pump and surrounding area to identify the vehicle and driver. Investigators are examining the registration details to track down the suspect who fled the scene. A formal police complaint is expected to be filed by the family.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement on whether the collision was intentional or accidental, but said they are pursuing all leads.
