Vinaytosh Mishra Takes Additional Charge as Odisha DGP
1993-batch IPS officer Vinaytosh Mishra takes additional charge as Odisha DGP, vows to focus on women’s safety, organised crime, cybercrime and festive security
Senior IPS officer Vinaytosh Mishra on Sunday assumed additional charge as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Odisha. He took charge from outgoing DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania at the State Police Headquarters in Cuttack.
After arriving at the police headquarters, Vinaytosh Mishra was welcomed by senior police officials and presented with a guard of honour. He later paid floral tribute at the Martyrs’ Memorial.

Focus on Crime Control and Public Safety
Vinaytosh Mishra, who is currently serving as the DG of Crime Branch, said he was grateful to the state government for entrusting him with the additional responsibility.
He said discharging the responsibility with dedication would be his top priority. He also highlighted key areas such as women’s safety, combating organised crime, building a drug-free Odisha and tackling cybercrime.
Mishra said the Crime Branch had continuously worked towards preventing and controlling crime during his nearly two-year tenure as its head. He added that these efforts would continue in the coming days.

60,000 Personnel to Ensure Festive Security
With the festive season approaching, Mishra said around 60,000 Odisha Police personnel would work in coordination with district administrations to maintain peace, law and order and security across the state.
He said necessary measures would be taken to ensure that people can celebrate festivals safely and without fear.
Amid flood situations in some parts of Odisha, he said the police would coordinate with ODRAF and district administrations to provide assistance to affected people and protect lives and property.
Public Service as Top Priority
Mishra urged every Odisha Police officer and personnel to perform their duties with dedication, honesty and a strong sense of responsibility. He stressed that public safety and service must remain the highest priority.
“Police service is not merely a job but a noble service,” he said, urging personnel to strengthen public trust.
Vinaytosh Mishra’s Career Profile
A 1993-batch IPS officer, Vinaytosh Mishra is originally from Bihar. During his career, he served as SDPO, Additional SP and SP in several places, including Balasore, Talcher, Cuttack, Berhampur, Jajpur and the Crime Branch.
He has also served in various senior positions, including the Intelligence Directorate, Fire Services and Home Guards, CISF and Odisha Police.
Vinaytosh Mishra became DG Crime Branch on January 1, 2025, and will now hold the additional responsibility of Odisha DGP.
