A young man was seriously injured after allegedly jumping from a water tank on the premises of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Tuesday.

The injured person has been identified as 21-year-old Rakesh Parida from the Jajpur Town police station area. According to reports, Rakesh is believed to have been experiencing mental health-related difficulties.

The incident reportedly occurred when Rakesh suddenly climbed onto a water tank on the hospital premises. While efforts were underway to bring him down safely, he allegedly jumped from the tank and fell to the ground.

He sustained serious injuries in the fall and was immediately rescued and shifted to the Trauma Care Centre at SCB Medical College and Hospital. He is currently undergoing treatment there.

The incident created a brief commotion on the hospital premises. The exact circumstances leading to the incident are yet to be ascertained, and further investigation is underway.
