The Odisha government is set to release the fifth instalment of the Subhadra Yojana on August 28, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said 1,03,26,162 beneficiaries will receive the fifth instalment.

According to Parida, 2,21,054 new beneficiaries have been included for the first time in the fifth instalment. The government will transfer ₹5,163 crore and ₹8 lakh directly to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries.

All Beneficiaries to Receive ₹5,000

Each eligible Subhadra beneficiary will receive ₹5,000 under the fifth instalment. Beneficiaries whose previous instalments are pending due to ground-level verification will receive their outstanding payments later.

Parida said pending instalments will be released about a month after the fifth instalment. If a beneficiary has two or three pending instalments, the amount will reportedly be transferred together.

New Applications Currently Closed

The Subhadra application portal is currently closed for fresh applications. Beneficiaries will be able to apply again if and when the government reopens the portal.

The government has also stated that pending cases are being examined through ground verification before payments are released.

₹20,600 Crore Already Transferred

According to the Deputy Chief Minister, the Odisha government has transferred around ₹20,600 crore to women beneficiaries through the first four instalments of the Subhadra Yojana.

Around 1.02 crore women benefited from the fourth instalment alone. With the fifth instalment scheduled for August 28, the government aims to further expand the coverage of the welfare scheme.

The fifth instalment is expected to provide financial assistance to more than 1.03 crore eligible women across Odisha.
