Pakistan Targets Kabul’s Omid Hospital: India Demands Global Action Against ‘Unconscionable’ Strike
India slams Pakistan over Kabul hospital strike, calls for global accountability as civilian casualties spark outrage and regional tensions escalate
India has strongly condemned an alleged airstrike by Pakistan on a civilian hospital in Kabul, calling it a “cowardly and barbaric act” that targeted innocent civilians. The sharp response marks a strong diplomatic rebuke from India towards Islamabad.
Hundreds Feared Dead in Hospital Strike
According to reports, over 400 patients and civilians were killed in the attack on the Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital on the night of March 16.
The facility was reportedly dedicated to addiction treatment and did not house any military personnel or equipment, making the strike particularly shocking and raising serious humanitarian concerns.
MEA Issues Strong Statement
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a strongly worded statement condemning the attack.
“India unequivocally condemns Pakistan’s barbaric airstrike… This is a cowardly and reprehensible act of violence that has resulted in heavy civilian casualties in a non-military facility,” the statement said.
India also accused Pakistan of attempting to portray the incident as a legitimate military operation despite mounting civilian deaths.
Attack During Ramzan Draws Global Concern
India highlighted that the strike occurred during the holy month of Ramzan, a period associated with peace and reflection, further intensifying the gravity of the incident.
New Delhi extended condolences to the victims’ families, wished a speedy recovery to the injured, and reaffirmed its solidarity with the people of Afghanistan.
Call for International Action
India urged the international community to take serious note of the incident and hold those responsible accountable. Officials described the strike as a grave violation of humanitarian norms and international law.
Tensions Escalate Amid Taliban Warning
The situation has further escalated after the ruling Taliban issued warnings of retaliation. India cautioned that such actions could worsen regional instability and called for restraint.
Regional Stability at Risk
The incident has raised fresh concerns about security and stability in the region. India reiterated that attacks on civilian infrastructure only deepen humanitarian crises and undermine peace efforts.
