Odisha Gears Up for Historic Visit of President Murmu and PM Modi; CM Reviews Security and Preparations

Odisha is preparing for a landmark political and administrative event as President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are scheduled to visit the state on June 19 and 20. In view of the high-profile visit, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday chaired a high-level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhavan to assess security arrangements and administrative preparedness.

Senior officials, including the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police (DGP), Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, and other top bureaucrats attended the meeting. Detailed discussions were held on security protocols, crowd management, logistics, and coordination among various departments to ensure a smooth and incident-free programme.

President Murmu to Celebrate Birthday in Her Native Region

According to the review meeting, President Droupadi Murmu will arrive in her home district of Mayurbhanj on June 19 for a two-day visit. A special highlight of the tour is that June 20 marks the President’s birthday, which she will celebrate in her birthplace and first karmabhoomi, Rairangpur.

Chief Minister Majhi described the occasion as a matter of immense pride and joy for the people of Odisha. Special arrangements are being made by the state government and local administration to welcome the President in her native region.

President and Prime Minister to Share Stage in Rairangpur

On June 20, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join President Murmu in Rairangpur for a grand state-level celebration marking two years of the Odisha Government and 12 years of the Central Government.

The two top leaders of the country will share a common stage and address a massive public gathering in Mayurbhanj district. The event is expected to draw thousands of people from across the region and will be one of the most significant public programmes held in Odisha this year.

Mega Development Projects to Be Launched

The visit is expected to be a major milestone in Odisha’s development journey. During the event, President Murmu and Prime Minister Modi are likely to jointly inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several major projects worth thousands of crores of rupees.

Among the key projects expected to be announced are important railway infrastructure initiatives and a mega coal gasification project. These investments are expected to accelerate economic growth and create new opportunities for the people of Odisha, particularly in Mayurbhanj and surrounding districts.

Focus on Flawless Security and Coordination

During the review meeting, Chief Minister Majhi instructed all departments to maintain close coordination and ensure that security arrangements remain foolproof throughout the visit.

Special attention is being given to VVIP movement, venue management, emergency response systems, and public safety measures. The administration has been directed to leave no room for lapses during the visit of the President and the Prime Minister.

Health Infrastructure Projects Also on Agenda

As part of her visit, President Murmu is also scheduled to inaugurate various healthcare development projects at the Rairangpur Sub-Divisional Hospital on June 19. These initiatives are aimed at strengthening medical services and healthcare infrastructure in the region.

Senior Officials Present at Review Meeting

The review meeting was attended by Chief Minister’s Advisor Prakash Mishra, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, DGP Y.B. Khurania, Development Commissioner D.K. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Saswata Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary of the Home and Information & Public Relations Department Hemant Sharma, Intelligence DG Binaytosh Mishra, and other senior officials.

With extensive preparations underway, Odisha is set to witness a historic occasion as the President and the Prime Minister come together in Mayurbhanj for a celebration that combines governance, development, and pride in the state’s achievements.
