Odisha BJP Government Completes Two Years; CM Mohan Majhi Highlights Achievements and Announces New Welfare Measures
As the BJP government completes two years in Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi highlights 121 new schemes, launches the Annapurna Scheme, and assures beneficiaries of three months' pension in a single installment.
BJP Government Marks Second Anniversary in Odisha
The BJP government in Odisha has completed two years in office, marking a significant milestone since it assumed power with a strong mandate from the people of the state. On this day two years ago, the BJP formed its first government in Odisha, ushering in what it described as a new era of governance under the “double-engine” leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in the state.
While the government’s first anniversary was celebrated under the slogan “One Year, Many Achievements,” this year’s theme is “Two Years, Double the Development.” Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi outlined the government’s accomplishments and future roadmap.
121 New Schemes and Programmes Implemented
Highlighting the government’s performance, the Chief Minister said that 121 new schemes and programmes have been launched and implemented over the past two years.
According to him, these initiatives have focused on improving welfare delivery, strengthening infrastructure, boosting economic development, and expanding opportunities for citizens across the state.
Annapurna Scheme Launched
One of the major announcements made on the occasion was the implementation of the Chief Minister’s Annapurna Scheme.
Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries will receive 10 kilograms of rice per month, providing additional food security support to economically vulnerable families. The government said the programme aims to ensure that no deserving household faces food shortages.
Beneficiaries to Receive Three Months’ Pension Together
Addressing concerns over delays in pension payments, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi clarified that the government is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it at the earliest.
He explained that the delay is linked to the process of integrating beneficiaries with updated technology-based systems. According to the Chief Minister, the issue is not solely related to the state government and involves coordination with central government mechanisms as well.
Technology Integration Causing Temporary Delay
The Chief Minister stated that efforts are underway to connect beneficiaries with the new technological framework to ensure greater transparency and efficiency in welfare delivery.
Out of nearly 10 lakh beneficiaries, issues concerning around 2 lakh people have already been resolved, and they have received their payments. The remaining beneficiaries will receive their dues soon, he assured.
Three Months’ Arrears to Be Paid in a Single Installment
Providing relief to pension beneficiaries, the Chief Minister announced that all pending dues will be cleared together.
“Beneficiaries will receive three months’ pension in a single installment,” he said, assuring citizens that the government is committed to ensuring timely delivery of welfare benefits.
Government Emphasises Welfare and Development
As the BJP government enters its third year in office, the administration has sought to highlight its achievements through new welfare initiatives, food security measures, and commitments to improving public service delivery.
The government maintains that its focus remains on accelerating development, strengthening social welfare programmes, and ensuring that the benefits of governance reach every section of society.
