Celebrating a triumphant year, Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) clinched “Power Generation Company of The Year-2023” from The Economics Times. Emerging from a three-year loss streak, OPGC notched a remarkable Rs.1126 Cr profit in FY-23, prompting a generous 5% dividend of Rs.103 Cr to its stakeholders. Under the vigilant eye of the Energy Secretary, strategic management actions tackled long-standing HR issues, culminating in a Pay and perk overhaul that retained top talent.
Transparency initiatives in recruitment, championed by the Energy Secretary, closed the manpower gap and earned OPGC the Best Employer Brand Award 2023 from the World HRD Congress. Founded in 1984, OPGC’s legacy of success in power generation is evident through its coal-based thermal units 1 & 2 (210 MW each) and, in 2019, supercritical units 3 & 4 (660 MW each).
Positioning itself as Odisha’s affordable, reliable, and sustainable power source, OPGC’s commitment to clean energy expands with the commissioning of two new supercritical units and a 70 MW solar plant. The corporation’s trajectory showcases a dedication to excellence, financial resilience, and a sustainable energy future for the state.
