Epic Group Launches State-of-the-Art Apparel Manufacturing Campus in Odisha
Net-zero apparel facility in Khordha set to create 7,000 jobs and boost sustainable manufacturing in Odisha
$100 Million Investment Marks Major Industrial Milestone
Global apparel manufacturer Epic Group has inaugurated its advanced Trimetro Manufacturing Campus in Khordha, Odisha, marking a significant step in sustainable industrial development in India. The project involves an investment of $100 million, positioning it as a key milestone in the country’s manufacturing sector.
The campus was formally inaugurated by Odisha Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, Khordha MLA Prasanta Kumar Jagadev, and Epic Group Chairman Ranjan Mahtani.
India’s First Net-Zero Apparel Manufacturing Facility
Spread across 40 acres, the Trimetro campus is India’s first fully integrated net-zero carbon and net-zero water garment manufacturing facility. It represents a strong blend of advanced manufacturing, environmental responsibility, and inclusive economic growth.
Designed as a future-ready production hub, the facility is expected to manufacture 20 million garments annually for global markets.
Supported by International Finance Corporation
The project has received financial backing from International Finance Corporation (IFC), which provided a $100 million loan package in 2024. This includes sustainability-linked financing and a green loan component, supporting Epic Group’s expansion plans across the region, including Bangladesh.
Boost to Employment and Local Economy
The new facility is expected to generate around 7,000 jobs, creating significant employment opportunities for local youth in Odisha. The state government has emphasized prioritizing employment for local residents.
To support workers, plans are in place to build employee hostels under welfare schemes and provide transportation facilities, including bus services.
Strengthening Odisha’s Industrial Growth
The foundation stone for the project was laid around 15 months ago, and its completion highlights the state’s growing attractiveness for large-scale industrial investments. The initiative is expected to further strengthen Odisha’s position as a hub for sustainable and future-ready manufacturing.
