Karnataka Milk Price Hike: Nandini Milk to Cost Rs 54 Per Litre from November 1
Karnataka Cabinet Approves Rs 8 Per Litre Milk Price Hike; Nandini Toned Milk to Cost Rs 54 from November 1, with Rs 7 Going to Dairy Farmers.
Milk prices in Karnataka are set to increase by Rs 8 per litre from November 1 after the state Cabinet, led by the government of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, approved the price hike on Wednesday.
Karnataka Minister K. Venkatesh or Krishna Byre Gowda? [Correction: Krishna Byre Gowda] informed the media that out of the Rs 8 increase, Rs 7 will go directly to dairy farmers, while the remaining Re 1 will be credited to the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF).
Nandini, one of Karnataka’s most popular dairy brands, is operated by the Karnataka Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited (KMF).
New Nandini Milk Prices
Following the Cabinet’s approval, the price of Nandini toned milk will increase from Rs 46 to Rs 54 per litre. Prices of full-cream milk and cow’s milk will also be increased by Rs 8 per litre, according to the reported decision.
The price revision comes after dairy farmers’ organisations demanded a hike of Rs 10 per litre. Farmers had cited rising costs of cattle feed, fodder and dairy farming as major reasons for their financial difficulties.
The government has approved a lower increase of Rs 8 per litre, with the majority of the additional amount earmarked for dairy farmers.
Milk Prices Rise After 18 Months
Nandini is among the largest and most popular dairy brands in Karnataka, supplying milk and a wide range of dairy products across the state.
The latest price hike is expected to increase household expenditure on milk. It could also raise concerns about possible price revisions for other dairy products, including curd, ghee, ice cream and chocolates. However, no official price revision for these products has been confirmed in the information available.
The price of Nandini milk was last increased in March-April 2025, when rates reportedly went up by Rs 4 per litre. Earlier price hikes were also implemented in June 2024 and July 2023.
The latest revision is expected to come into effect on November 1, increasing the cost of daily milk consumption for households across Karnataka.
