₹2,000 Crore Semiconductor Project to Create Jobs, Boost Odisha’s Tech Growth

Foundation Stone Laid by CM Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

In a major boost to Odisha’s technology and industrial landscape, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw jointly laid the foundation stone for the advanced 3D Glass Solution semiconductor project at Info Valley in Bhubaneswar.

₹2,000 Crore Investment to Generate 2,500 Jobs

The project, with an investment of approximately ₹2,000 crore, is expected to create around 2,500 employment opportunities in the state. Once operational, the unit will produce 70,000 glass panels annually, along with 50 million assembled units and 13,200 advanced 3DHI modules.

First-of-its-Kind Technology in India

The upcoming facility will introduce India’s first advanced glass substrate packaging technology, which is seen as the future of the semiconductor industry. Union Minister Vaishnaw highlighted that this cutting-edge technology will play a crucial role in sectors like artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and defence electronics.

Odisha Emerging as a Semiconductor Hub

Praising the state government, Vaishnaw commended the commitment of the Chief Minister towards industrial growth and job creation. He noted that Odisha is entering a new phase of development and is rapidly becoming a preferred destination for investors.

Chief Minister Majhi emphasized that the project marks a historic milestone not only for Odisha but also for India’s technological leadership. He added that global giants like Intel, Lockheed Martin, and Applied Materials collaborating with 3D Glass Solution reflects growing global confidence in the state.

Over ₹10,000 Crore Investment Already in Pipeline

The Chief Minister revealed that Odisha has already attracted semiconductor investments exceeding ₹10,000 crore. Companies like RIR Power Electronics and SiCSEM have established their presence in the state.

Odisha Positioned as Launchpad for Atmanirbhar Bharat

Highlighting Odisha’s strengths, the Chief Minister listed key factors such as abundant natural resources, world-class infrastructure, skilled workforce, strong connectivity, and responsive governance. He asserted that Odisha will act as a launchpad for Atmanirbhar Bharat in eastern India.

Call to Youth: “Odisha is Your Destination”

Encouraging young professionals and students, Majhi urged them to build careers in emerging technologies and take advantage of new opportunities in the semiconductor sector. He described this as a golden period for Odisha’s youth to upskill and contribute to the evolving tech ecosystem.

Dignitaries Present at the Event

The event was attended by several prominent officials, including IT Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, senior bureaucrats, and industry leaders, including the CEO of 3D Glass Solution, Babu Mandava.
