Odisha commuters will have to pay more for bus travel as the state government has once again revised bus fares across various categories. The fare hike comes just weeks after a similar increase was implemented in mid-May, adding to the burden on daily passengers.

Fare Increased Across All Bus Categories

According to the revised rates, fares for ordinary and express buses have been increased by 2 paise per kilometre. Meanwhile, fares for deluxe and AC deluxe buses have been raised by 4 paise per kilometre, while super deluxe bus fares have gone up by 6 paise per kilometre.

Revised Bus Fare Rates

Following the latest revision, the fare for ordinary buses has increased from 90 paise to 92 paise per kilometre. Express bus fares have been revised from 94 paise to 96 paise per kilometre.

Similarly, deluxe bus fares have been increased from ₹1.31 to ₹1.35 per kilometre, while AC deluxe fares have risen from ₹1.59 to ₹1.63 per kilometre. Super deluxe bus fares have been revised upward from ₹2.47 to ₹2.53 per kilometre.

Second Fare Hike Since May

This is the second bus fare hike within a month. Earlier, on May 15, bus fares across categories were also revised. At that time, fares for ordinary and express buses were increased by 2 paise per kilometre, while deluxe, AC deluxe, and super deluxe bus fares were raised by 4 to 6 paise per kilometre.

Impact on Passengers

The repeated fare revisions are expected to increase travel expenses for thousands of commuters who depend on public transport for daily travel. While transport operators cite rising operational costs as the reason behind the hike, passengers may feel the impact of higher fares, especially on long-distance routes.

The revised bus fares have come into effect immediately.
