Massive Blaze Engulfs Three-Storey Building in Aliganj; Several People Feared Trapped as Rescue Teams Continue Operations
A massive fire broke out at a multi-storey building in Aliganj area of Uttar Pradesh’s capital city Lucknow on Monday afternoon, leaving at least 13 people dead. Several others are feared trapped inside the building as rescue operations continue.
The incident created panic among people inside the building. According to eyewitnesses, the fire spread rapidly across the three-storey structure before anyone could understand what had happened. Thick smoke and flames engulfed the entire building, forcing people to run for their lives. Some people reportedly jumped from the roof to escape the fire.

Fire Breaks Out After Lunch Hours
The fire reportedly broke out after lunchtime when people inside the building had returned to their respective work. Within moments, the flames spread across the premises, leaving those inside trapped.
The building housed a pet shop on the ground floor, while a gaming zone was operating on the upper floors, according to police officials. A gaming-related workplace was also functioning inside the building, where around 20 to 22 people were reportedly working.
Panic Among People Trapped Inside
After the fire started, people on the upper floors were unable to find an immediate escape route due to heavy smoke and flames. Several people panicked and jumped down from the building in an attempt to save their lives.
Eyewitnesses said the intensity of the fire was extremely high, making rescue efforts challenging.
Fire Department and Police Launch Rescue Operation
Soon after receiving information about the incident, local residents started helping in the rescue operation. Fire department teams and police officials reached the spot and began efforts to control the blaze and rescue those trapped inside.
Authorities suspect that around 10 to 12 people may still be trapped inside the building. Rescue teams are continuing their search operation.
CM Yogi Adityanath Reviews Situation
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took immediate cognizance of the incident and directed officials to reach the spot without delay.
The Chief Minister instructed authorities to speed up rescue operations and ensure proper medical treatment for the injured.
Officials are investigating the cause of the fire, while further details about casualties and damage are awaited.
