OMFED Announces ₹2 Per Litre Hike in Milk Procurement Price for Farmers

The Odisha Milk Federation (OMFED) has announced a major decision in the interest of dairy farmers across the state. From September 11, dairy farmers supplying milk to OMFED will receive an additional ₹2 per litre as the milk procurement price.

The decision is expected to benefit more than three lakh dairy farmers across Odisha.

As per the decision, OMFED will increase the price paid for milk procured from farmers by ₹2 per litre from September 11. The move has been taken with a focus on improving the livelihood, income and overall welfare of dairy farmers in the state.

Dairy farmers have been facing increasing financial pressure due to rising costs of cattle feed, veterinary care, livestock maintenance, green fodder, feed and transportation. The increase in procurement prices is aimed at providing some relief to farmers amid the rising cost of dairy farming.

The decision is also expected to encourage dairy farmers to continue and expand milk production, while strengthening the state’s dairy sector.

With more than three lakh farmers set to benefit from the revised procurement price, the OMFED move is being viewed as an important step towards supporting the rural dairy economy and improving farmers’ income.
