Bangladesh’s top order displayed a powerful hitting display.. Opener Habibur Rahman Sohan went down in history by recording the fastest T20 hundred for Bangladesh as he smashed an unbeaten 100 off just 35 balls in the Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025. The 25-year-old from Sirajganj took his side to the sky with an eight-wicket win over Hong Kong in the third match of the tournament here at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium.

After winning the toss and batting first, Hong Kong put up a 20-over total of 167 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, a target that Bangladesh A chased down effortlessly. Sohan at the top of the order was unrelenting in his assault as he hit 10 sixes and 8 fours at an insane strike rate of 285.71. He reached his first fifty in just 14 balls and then went on to add another 50 in 21 balls to complete his historic innings.

Bangladesh A’s Jishan Alam played a supporting role with the bat, scoring a quick-fire 42 off 20 balls, and captain Towhid Hridoy was unbeaten on 21 as Bangladesh A reached their target in only 11 overs.

The explosive tonnene is just a few balls away from Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s tournament record of a 32-ball hundred, and therefore it is only Sohan’s second most notable century this year, after the 49-ball tonnene he made in the Bangladesh Cricket League One Day Tournament.

Developed from the grassroots of club cricket and the Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Academy in Dhaka, Sohan can be proud of his domestic achievements: 344 runs in eight first-class matches at an average of 21.5, 1,064 runs in 41 List A games at a strike rate of 133.16, and 605 runs in T20s at a strike rate of over 150.

The crowd and pundits alike applauded this innings as the rising star’s debut moment, and now he stands out as the leading light of Bangladesh’s aggressive batting style. The Asia Cup Rising Stars, with such explosive performances, is certainly going to be electrifying.
