The Odisha government has signed four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) at the Asia Clean Energy Summit (ACES) under Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) 2026 to strengthen international research collaboration in renewable energy and clean energy technologies.

The agreements were signed by the state Energy Department in collaboration with Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (NTU), which will serve as the knowledge partner. The partnerships will focus on digitalisation, artificial intelligence (AI), battery energy storage, smart grids and green hydrogen.

Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo welcomed the initiative, highlighting the importance of international collaboration in accelerating Odisha’s clean energy transition. He said innovation, research and global partnerships would help build a future-ready and resilient energy sector in the state.

The MoUs are expected to strengthen Odisha’s engagement with international institutions and technology companies, facilitate the development of advanced energy solutions and position the state as a major destination for clean energy investment and innovation.

The agreements expand the research collaboration established in January 2023 among the Odisha Energy Department, NTU Singapore and IIT Bhubaneswar by bringing global industry experts into the partnership.

Under the agreements, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Singapore will collaborate on digitalisation and AI-based workbench solutions. VFlowTech Singapore will work on flow battery technology, while PHENOGY Singapore will focus on battery energy storage systems based on sodium-ion battery technology.

Finland-based DANFOSS Drives Oy will collaborate on research involving microgrids, smart grid integration and green hydrogen production.

Special Secretary of the Odisha Energy Department Dr Devidatta Tripathy and Professor Madhavi Srinivasan, Executive Director of ERI@N at NTU, signed the MoUs.

GRIDCO Managing Director Dr Satyapriya Rath, Director Engineer Debashish Das and IIT Bhubaneswar Dean Professor Subhranshu Ranjan Samantaray attended the event.

During the visit, representatives of Odisha’s Energy Department also met Singapore’s Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Siew Hoon Gan, and Permanent Secretary Augustine L. to discuss potential joint initiatives.

The agreements mark a significant step towards strengthening Odisha’s long-term energy security, modernising its power sector and promoting advanced clean energy technologies through international cooperation.
